Communication Facilities of Line 1 of Gwangju Metro

What's a communication facility?

The communication facilities of Gwangju Metro have high corelation with train run/passenger safety/customer service and various systems (train, electricity, signals and facilities) are connected each other via communication facilities to establish the operation system of Gwangju Metro.

Communication Facilities for Train Run

Digital Transmission Facilities

They are the facilities which transmit the information (data) in the fields of electricity, signals, communication and the information (voice) necessary for operation of the urban railway as the pivot neural network and use optical cables for transmission media.

Wireless facilities of the train

A wireless telephone device which enables telephone conversation between the operation control (general control team) and trains, trains and interphone subscribers, mobile wireless base, mobile wireless base and telephone subscribers and may give an instruction to all trains in the emergency for safe run of the train.

Video Transmission Facility

A facility which seeks for monitoring of the main facilities and safe get on and off of the passengers by installing CCTV cameras in the platform, escalators, automatic fare collection system and weak points. It may remotely monitor and control the video information from the operation control (general control team) collected from each station.

Train video transmission facility

It's a facility which enables the engineer to check the platform situation at a glance from 400m before entrance to the station to 150m after departure through the monitor in the engineer's cab. It also provides the video information (provides the information of the not only this station but also the next station by quarterly divided screen) so that the engineer could actively cope with various safety accidents such as a fire in the station, suicide by fall and fall accident due to negligence of the passenger.

TRS Wireless Communication System

TRS wireless communication system is a method adopted under National Integrated Command Wireless Communication Network Establishment Plan in order to cope with subway disaster installed under discussion with police agency without a separate system.
※ TRS is an acronym of Trunked Radio System and a typical wireless communication technology together with mobile telephone communication method of the mobile communication.

Communication Facility for Safety and Convenience of the Customer

Automatic Information Broadcasting System

A facility which automatically transmits an alarm sound, destination guidance broadcasting when a train approaches and sends an alarm sound and voice guidance broadcasting when a fire occurs seeking for improvement of safety and service by providing various sound information and music to the passengers through various media (Radio, CD and tape broadcasting).

Destination Guide Indicator

Destination guide indicators are installed in the platform and waiting room and provides the information visually for the train run status to the passengers indicating destination, approaching status and other information.


Complex Communication Facility

The facility which enables passengers to hear radio broadcast not only in the waiting room but also in the train under move using general antenna (waiting room) and LCX cable antenna (tunnel) and makes wireless communication network of Gwangju District Police Agency service in the underground. It also provides antenna terminals so that the wireless network of National Emergency Management Agency could be operated in the underground in the emergency.

Emergency Call System (Call Phone)

A system for the women and disabled who use urban railway and is used for the emergency communication in the emergency being installed in the toilet and platform for women and the disabled while the main device is installed in the fare collection management room.


Voice guidance system for the blind

A facility to provide convenience when the blind use transportation and public facility and is operated by the fixed base installed at entrance of each station and toilet of Line 1 of Gwangju Metro and guidance signal generator which the disabled carry (could be linked with the crosswalk of the urban railway and bus station with the wireless frequency guidance signal method).
